Launched by the Australian Communications
and Media Authority (ACMA) in May this year, the "Do Not Call Register"
provides consumers with the ability to freely enter their home and
mobile phone numbers with the register to opt out of receiving
telemarketing calls.
Some telemarketing calls, such as those from charities, educational or
religious organisations, political parties and independent members of
parliament, electoral candidates and government bodies are excluded from
the Register.
To register for the Do Not Call Register, visit
http://www.donotcall.gov.au or phone 1300 792 958. You can
download a Do Not Call Register postal registration form available from
the ACMA website.
