Windows Vista enables you to easily import your photos and videos from your digital camera using AutoPlay and Windows Photo Gallery. Here’s how to do it!

bullet

If you have a camera dock, ensure your camera dock is plugged into a USB port and that the digital camera is firmly placed in the dock. If not, connect your camera’s to the USB connection on your computer.

bullet

Push the button on the dock or turn on your camera.

bullet

Windows AutoPlay will then appear asking what you want to do with the pictures. Click Import pictures using Windows.

bullet

Windows will then discover your pictures and videos from your digital camera into Windows Photo Gallery.

bullet

If there are no pictures or videos: then the message “No new pictures or videos were found on this device” will appear. Click OK.

bullet

If there are pictures or videos on the camera, Once Windows has found all the pictures and videos on your camera, you will then be asked to “tag” them. This assists in locating similar files using Windows Photo Gallery later on, so you should choose a name suitably (such as a person, event or location). Enter the name you wish to tag the photos as, and then click Import.

bullet

Windows will then import all of your photos into a folder and set the tags. During the importing process, you can select the checkbox to Erase after importing. With this checkbox selected, Windows will erase the photos and videos from the camera permanently (only if you choose to).

bullet

Once Windows has completed importing your photos and videos, Windows Photo Gallery will open and display the “Recently Imported” folder.

bullet

That’s it, you’ve imported your photos and videos using Windows Vista!
