Secunia Personal Software Inspector (PSI) enables you to protect and secure your computer against vulnerabilities by scanning whether the software installed on your computer has the latest security updates and patches applied.

 

Here how to download and install it, as well as run it!

 

Downloading and installing Secunia PSI

 

bulletConnect to the Internet as per usual.
bullet In the address bar, type http://secunia.com/vulnerability_scanning/personal.
bullet Click Download Now!.
bullet Click Save.
bulletWhen prompted, save “PSISetup.exe” to your computer, preferably to the Downloads folder or your Desktop.
bullet When the file has completed downloading, click Run.
bulletThe PSI Setup program will then commence.
bullet Select your language and press Next >.
bullet Read the Licence Agreement. If you agree, click I accept the terms of the Licence Agreement and click Next >.
bulletThe User Agreement screen will appear, click the appropriate button for where you intend to use of the software. Click Next >.
bullet The Readme Information screen will appear, click Next >.
bullet Choose Install Location screen will appear, click Next >.
bullet The PSI Setup program will then install Secunia PSI.
bullet Once finished, click Finish.
bullet If prompted to launch Secunia PSI now, click Yes.
bullet Network connectivity will be verified and a welcome screen will appear. Meanwhile, the first scan will be completed on your computer to identify programs installed on your computer. This may take some time to complete.
bullet Click Close and view scan progress. Click Close and view scan progress.
bullet Secunia PSI will then present a report on the various security threats on your computer. Click the Solution button to be linked directed you to the software manufacturer for the appropriate patch or update.
bullet Install the patch or update prompted, and then rescan your computer.
bullet As noted in the program, after downloading and installing a solution it may be required to re-scan your system before the entry is removed from the above list. Should it still be listed after applying the solution and re-scanning your system, then please consult the PSI Community Forum for further assistance.
