Secunia Personal Software Inspector (PSI)
enables you to protect and secure your computer against vulnerabilities by
scanning whether the software installed on your computer has the latest
security updates and patches applied.
Here how to download and install it, as well as run it!
Downloading and installing Secunia PSI
 | Connect to the
Internet as per usual. |

In the address bar, type
http://secunia.com/vulnerability_scanning/personal. |
 |
Click Download Now!. |
 |
Click Save. |
 | When prompted,
save “PSISetup.exe” to your computer, preferably to the Downloads
folder or your Desktop. |
 |
When the file has completed downloading, click
Run. |
 | The PSI Setup
program will then commence. |
 |
Select your language and press Next >. |
 |
Read the Licence Agreement. If you agree, click
I accept the terms of the Licence Agreement and click Next >. |
 | The User Agreement
screen will appear, click the appropriate button for where you intend
to use of the software. Click Next >. |
 |
The Readme Information screen will appear, click
Next >. |
 |
Choose Install Location screen will appear, click
Next >. |
 |
The PSI Setup program will then install Secunia PSI. |
 |
Once finished, click
Finish. |
 |
If prompted to launch Secunia PSI now, click
Yes. |
 |
Network connectivity will be verified and a welcome screen will
appear. Meanwhile, the first scan will be completed on your computer
to identify programs installed on your computer. This may take some
time to complete. |
 |
Click Close and view
scan progress. Click Close and view scan
progress. |
 |
Secunia PSI will then present a report on the various security threats
on your computer. Click the Solution button to be linked directed you
to the software manufacturer for the appropriate patch or update. |
 |
Install the patch or update prompted, and then rescan your computer. |
 |
As noted in the program, after downloading and installing a solution
it may be required to re-scan your system before the entry is removed
from the above list. Should it still be listed after applying the
solution and re-scanning your system, then please consult the PSI
Community Forum for further assistance.
