By using Symantec LiveUpdate, you will be keeping your Symantec products, such as Norton SystemWorks, Norton Internet Security and Norton AntiVirus up to date.  Through LiveUpdate, virus definitions, firewall rules and program changes in your Symantec products are easily updated.

bullet

Connect to the Internet in your usual way.

bullet

Start your Symantec product.

bullet

Click the LiveUpdate from the menu at the top of the screen.

bullet

Click Next > at the "Welcome to LiveUpdate" window.
bullet

LiveUpdate will then search for updates for your Symantec products and display a list of available updates.

bullet

Ensure all items are checked, if not click inside the box to check them.

bullet

Press the Next > button.
bullet

LiveUpdate will then download updates for your Symantec products. This may take a quite a while, particularly if you haven't used LiveUpdate for a long time or you have installed a new Symantec product.

bullet

Once the updates have finished downloading, it will install them automatically. Some updates will pass on some information or ask you to ensure you wish to install them, once read, press either OK or Yes depending on the particular window that appears.

bullet

A summary window will be displayed signifying which updates have been installed. A green tick marks them as up to date and a red cross means the update was not installed or there was a problem.

bullet

Click Finish.

bullet

You will then be told that a reboot is required because some of the updates require it. Make sure you have saved all of your work, and ready for the computer to reboot. Please note: that this will disconnect you from the Internet. Click OK when you are ready to reboot.

bullet

Once the computer returns you to the Windows desktop, all of your Symantec products will be up to  date!
