A word from the Chief Guru: Striving for continual improvement

Welcome to the second issue of the CyberGuru Newsletter for 2008. Like our first issue this year, this newsletter is also quite delayed. As some of you may be aware, I recently got married and moved into a new home. Due to a series of unfortunate circumstances and technical issues, I have had much difficulty in having the internet connected and have become quite behind in my emails due to the limited access. It is with great relief that CyberGuru is back online and back in business. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time.

CyberGuru prides itself in offering award-winning, professional and affordable computer solutions and we would like to know how you find the solutions we provide. We are always looking to continue to improve our business, and trialling the introduction of post solution surveys, which will be sent upon the completion of a solution. The post solution survey will enable to receive direct feedback relating to the solution we provided to you. We ask if that you receive such a survey that you complete it - all feedback will be greatly appreciated and the information you provide to us will help improve our solutions to all of our clients.

Further, since the last newsletter, I have upgraded my Training and Assessment qualifications and undertaken additional training as a Microsoft Small Business Specialist, having passed exams to recognised by Microsoft as able to offer technology advice, support and service, specific to small businesses. For more information on this qualification, please read our News article below.

We hope you enjoy this issue of the CyberGuru Newsletter. We are always looking to would welcome any feedback and suggestions you may have.

How-to Guide: Downloading and Installing Windows Live Sign-In Assistant

Windows Live Sign-In Assistant is useful for those who wish to manage for multiple Windows Live IDs to appear at sign on onto their Windows Live applications such as Hotmail and Spaces. This program enables users who access these regularly to appear as a list on the sign-in page and record their password if desired (please note if you are using a public computer this is not recommended). It is particularly useful if you have multiple people using a computer in a family home or an individual with several accounts.

It is a small and simple download, and even if you don't wish to have other Windows Live programs installed on your computer, this update enables users to save time entering their account details when you log on.

How-to Guide: Creating a Hotmail Account

In order to reduce the amount of spam you receive, you might find it beneficial to have a secondary email account to use when publishing on a website, completing surveys or web forms. You can then provide your primary one for family and friends, reducing your load of junk mail. Many providers offer free email accounts, and one such provider is Hotmail.

This how-to guide is available from our How-to Guides page at http://www.cyberguru.com.au/helpdesk_howtoguides.htm.
