Queensland Government Business Basics Grant

The Queensland Government’s Department of Employment, Small Business and Training administer has recently announced a number of grants for businesses. The Business Basics grant program provides support to businesses to increase core skills and adopt best practice.

The grant, which is up to $5,000 (excluding GST) can be used for small businesses looking for assistance in either training and coaching, website build and upgrades, professional business advice, strategic marketing services and business continuity and succession.

In order to be eligible, you are required to meet the following criteria:

  • have fewer than 20 employees at the time of applying for the grant
  • have an active Australian Business Number (ABN) and be registered for GST
  • have a Queensland headquarters
  • have a turnover of $300,000 or less for the current financial year
  • not be insolvent or have owners/directors that are an undischarged bankrupt.

At CyberGuru, we are looking to assist those small businesses in particular:

  • who would be interested in upskilling themselves or their staff in training on their computer related topics, including software, security and cloud applications (such as (Microsoft 365)
  • an ICT consultancy diagnostic or cyber security review, or requiring advice or planning of new project and implementation, or
  • a new website or upgrade to their existing website.
